Our Story

A dream, a community, and a place to belong.
Opening a dance studio had always been a dream of mine.
When the time finally felt right for my family, I decided to take the leap and pour my energy into building that dream.
I knew what I wanted Millstone Dance to feel like: a place where children could receive a really great dance education while also feeling warm, welcomed, safe, and happy. A place where they couldn't wait to walk through the doors each week. A place where people were genuinely happy to see them.
And I wanted them to leave with more than dance.
I wanted them to build confidence, discover what they're capable of, make friendships, and learn that they can do hard things.
From the beginning, this has been about people.
I'll always remember the support we received from our community when we first opened. That first summer, the rooms were filled with happy children excited to be part of something new.
Then COVID happened during our very first year, bringing challenges we never could have anticipated. But we kept going. And over the years, that early support grew into something I'm incredibly proud of:
A Millstone Dance family.
Our dancers, families, teachers, and staff genuinely care about one another. We pitch in. We work together. We celebrate each other's successes.
There is something really special about that.
I believe dance is about more than dance.
Of course, our dancers learn technique. But they also learn teamwork, discipline, consistency, confidence, stage presence, and what it means to work hard and give their all.
Those lessons don't stay in the studio.
They become part of who they are.
I also believe there isn't one right way to experience dance. Some dancers thrive on competition. Others love recreational dance. Neither is better or more important. Every child is different, and we want to give each dancer room to find what works for them.

The part I never want to change.
If you ask me what I never want to change about Millstone Dance, my answer is easy:
The warmth. The compassion. The way we care.
We want every dancer to feel loved, supported, and valued. We want parents to feel calm when they leave their child with us, knowing they're in good hands.
Because our teachers aren't just teaching dance steps.
They're helping shape a human being.
We want our dancers to know that they are important, that they are worth it, and that they can do hard things.
You belong here.
The moment a child walks through our doors, they become part of the Millstone Dance family.
And graduation doesn't change that.
Years from now, I hope our dancers remember more than the dances they learned or the costumes they wore. I hope they remember how they felt here.
The friendships.
The teachers who cared about them.
The feeling of being welcomed.
And I hope they always know they have a place here.
